As the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces claimed the capture of the strategic al-Tabqa airport, additional forces arrived to fight Islamic Sate in al-Tabqa, near Raqqa city, on March 27, according to this video shared by a Kurdish outlet.The forces continued advancing in northeast Syria and said on March 26 they had cut off the main road between Damascus and al-Tabqa. Fighting in the area was seen as putting the al-Tabqa Dam at risk. Civilians reportedly were leaving Raqqa city, heading north and into hills, an anti-IS activist group in Raqqa said. The US military said it was not aware of any damage to the dam.
