Shares of sold off last week after the apparel giant failed to thrill Wall Street analysts with its earnings guidance. Brian Peery, portfolio manager for the Hennessy Cornerstone Mid Cap 30 Fund , said investors should use that selloff as a buying opportunity. "We believe the prospects for the holiday season and into 2017 are attractive at these levels," said Peery. "While same store sales were higher due to better selling prices, inventory control should help mitigate the risk of post-holiday clearance sale induced margin compression." Last week PVH, which owns brands like Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Heritage Brands, Van Heusen and IZOD, reported revenue of $2.24 billion, a 4% increase year over year and slightly larger than the $2.23 billion Wall Street was looking for. Adjusted EPS came in at $2.60, much better than the $2.40 estimates but still less than the $2.66 posted last year. Looking ahead, management said it will post fourth-quarter EPS within a range of $1.13 to $1.18 while estimates had pinned EPS at $1.28. Revenue is expected to fall 1% year over year in the quarter. The Hennessy Cornerstone Mid Cap 30 Fund is up 7.7% thus far in 2016, according to Morningstar. The $1.3 billion fund has returned an average of 13.5% annually over the past five years, outpacing 55% of its rivals in Morningstar's mid-cap blend category. The fund sports a trailing 12 month yield of 0.13%, according to Morningstar. Peery is also bullish on Thor Industries , up 84% year-to-date. The recreational vehicle-maker recently reported a strong quarter with sales up roughly 70% from the prior year and earnings up over 50% from the same period. "They own 18 brand names in the RV space, but probably tier most iconic brand, Airstream, is making a strong comeback thanks partly due to millennials. Those silver trailers from our childhood as gaining in popularity and creature comforts," said Peery. "The market right now seems almost too good, with 2017 expected to be one of Thor's strongest years since the 1970's."
