April 21--WILLMAR -- Willmar dropped the first singles match but went on to earn victories in the remaining matches to take down Sartell 6-1 Thursday afternoon.

Manny Obregon, Will Fischer and Hunter Fischer each won in straight sets to take a commanding lead for the Cardinals who went on to sweep the doubles.

Ryan Ackerman and Pablo Bernabeau Guerra were tested at No. 1 doubles, dropping the second set 2-6, but winning the first and final set to take the win.

"I am proud of how well the complete team played today," Willmar head coach Jim Anderson said. "All the doubles team are continuing to improve and hit the ball with no fear."

Grant Duininck and Ben Hisken won their first doubles match as a tandem, doing so by a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Cardinals will take on Litchfield in Litchfield today.

Minnewaska swept doubles and won a pair of singles matches to take down Yellow Medicine East Thursday.

Carter Liemandt set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles and the No. 1 doubles duo of Tate Reichmann and Zack Evans who also won 6-0, 6-0.

Cody Speh and Ammon Bennett finished with strong performances for YME, taking both matches with ease.

The Thunder Hawks improved to 6-0 with a shutout of MACCRAY on Thursday.

Montevideo swept four singles matches, all in straight sets, and also won at No. 1 doubles before picking up the final two doubles points by forfeit.

The Thunder Hawks play Luverne and Pipestone in the Pipestone Triangular at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Glencoe-Silver Lake Invite

At Glencoe Country Club

BOLD won both the boys and girls divisions at the Glencoe-Silver Lake thanks to strong individual performances.

Mason Mages led the field in the boys division with a 77, ahead of teammate Jack Ryan who scored an 81 for second place.

On the girls side, the Warriors posted a 350 which was 25 strokes better than second-place Orono. Orono's Camille Kuznik carded a field-best 75 while BOLD's Madison Van Der Hagen scored an 85 for second place. Ashley and Whitney Trongard rounded out the top-four as they each posted an 87.

At Pierz Golf Course

BBE took third place in the Central Minnesota Conference golf meet on Thursday as Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball came away with the win. The Jaguars shot 182 as a team, just three strokes off of first place.

Ethan Schwinghammer of BBE tied for second with a score of 41.

Paynesville took seventh place and was led by Jordan Wegner's score of 45.

Lac qui Parle Valley won both girls and boys divisions at the Dawson-Boyd invite Thursday afternoon at the Dawson Golf Course. The Eagles' girls won with a 202, 40 strokes ahead of their hosts and the boys team won with a 177, just seven strokes ahead of MACCRAY.

LQPV's Rachel Halvorson led the field with a 43 for the girls and MACCRAY's Brady Madsen carded a field-best 37, just one stroke ahead of Brett Reid of Willmar Community Christian.
