Texas' rainbow trout fishing season quietly got under way this week with a stocking of 5,000 fish at the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens and the first of eight stockings this winter at Tyler's Woldert Park. Those are just two of the stockings scheduled this winter in which Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will release almost 300,000 of the fish as part of a seasonal statewide put-and-take fishery.

Tyler John Tyler High School librarian Laura Russell received a special package in the mail recently. Opening the package, she removed the contents that were carefully wrapped in tissue paper.

Around 10:30 this morning dispatchers received a call of a house fire at 2703 N. Grand Avenue in Tyler across from Texas College. Officials tell KETK the resident took a pan of dressing out of the oven, set it on a nearby washing machine, then left the room to talk on the phone.

The Smith County Fire Marshal announced today that after extensive review of the Old Winona School fire case, no exact cause of the fire could be determined. The building burned the morning of Sunday, November 23, 2014.

On November 20, 2014 Tyler Police Department conducted its annual city wide sex offender compliance check with the assistance of officers from multiple Law Enforcement agencies. Officers were charged with checking on 147 registered sex offenders who are registered with the City of Tyler.
