Chester Kruse filed a temporary use permit to sell Mexican food from his mobile food truck, Curbside Taco, as part of the grand opening of The Foundry Coffee House, at 202 S. Jumpstart's "Read for the Record," presented by the Tyler Public Library in partnership with the Pearson Foundation, will take place at the Tyler Public Library on Tuesday, October 21. This is an annual reading celebration that highlights the need for literacy across America by encouraging adults and children to set a record for the largest shared reading experience. This year's featured title is "Bunny Cakes" by Rosemary Wells, featuring Max and Ruby, two bunnies familiar to children.

There will be some strange creatures lurking around the Tyler Public Library this weekend during the first ever Zombie Shootout. The event in which residents try to hunt zombies is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Tyler Public Library, 201 S. College Ave. Access Librarian Lori Fregoso said the Zombie Shootout features a preliminary qualifying round on the first floor, where participants with Nerf guns will try to shoot zombies.
